Hiring a Content Writer


One of the most important parts of an SEO team is the content writers. Content writers are the lifeblood of the team, they are the ones that generate content, the ones that inherently makes the campaign possible. When hiring content writers, it is important to keep in mind that these people are artists. In the years following the boom of outsourcing, employee turn-outs have pointed to content writers as the ones who often left the company.

Why is it so? Because SEO is mundane, clerical work. Content writing is routine, almost simplistic, and too focused on quantity that it overtakes quality at some point. Most content writers write because they’ve got something to talk about, not because they are writers that generate generic content.

SEO solutions are nothing to write home about when content writers aren’t as strong as a team can be. So it is incredibly significant and crucial that you hire those content writers that are in-betweeners - not too artsy, not too mechanical.

Find these qualities on a content writer and you’ll be on your way with your SEO efforts:


Ask them about what the last book they’ve read. It will show how wide their vocabulary is.


One of the top qualities for a good writer is that he/she should read a lot. You cannot write when you haven’t read anything. Research is one of the fundamental tasks a content writer do, and when that person is too opinionated, or too caught up on his own view on things, you may have a narcissistic writer in your hand. Be wary in hiring these types, as they tend to question more than do writing.

An SEO company in Egypt advises that you need to sieve through the entire selection of content writers before narrowing them down. Don’t be too eager to hire someone, as that would scream desperation on your part.

Ask them about how they feel about a daily or weekly quota.

A good writer will tell you that he does not have a problem with monthly quota, but will struggle with daily quotas. Writers are inherently crafty, and they take time in considering their emotions and feelings while writing. When they are not passionate about something, it will take them eons to finish a single article. The opposite is true when they are enamoured with the topic, which brings us to:

Ask them about what they like to write about.

Every writer has a pet topic or topics. These are the topics they have accumulated knowledge upon, for years on end. They know insider stuff about it already and that information are lodged into their brains. A good writer will tell you at least three topics. On the contrary, be wary of someone who lists down an array of topics.
